Love As an ACTION Verb™

There’s only ONE Question:  W.W.L.D.?™

First published January 19, 2010. How can WE still NOT get It?

What Would LOVE Do?™ It sounds simple enough to do, á la Betty Jayne Penny Gavin, “ordinary things with extraordinary Love.” But what does it really mean – Love As an ACTION Verb™ – this belief to which we of Betty’s Love Alzheimer’s Charities are committed?

In Betty’s Love, the only criterion for Caregiving –
and the basis and proven practices of everything we do
IS Love.  We look in part to I Corinthians 13:4-7
for suggestions on ‘how to’ Love As an ACTION Verb™

Love is patient.
Love is kind.
It is not jealous,
it is not pompous,
it is not inflated,
it is not rude,
it does not seek its own interests,
it is not quick-tempered,
it does not brood over injury,
it does not rejoice over wrongdoing but rejoices with the truth.
Love bears all things,
believes all things,
hopes all things,
endures all things.

Throughout their journeys through Alzheimer’s disease, dementia, and other cognitive disabilities, Blessed Warriors – all people battling Alzheimer’s diseaes, dementia, and all cognitive impairment – “endure all things” … and then some.  In Betty’s University, we teach practical, proven, positive steps families CAN take in JOY to Care-with-Love™ at home for every member of your family, at every age, every day.

‘How to’ Care-with-Love As an Action Verb™ every day….

We of Betty’s Love – all Betty’s Love Families, Guests, Caregivers, and Staff – must and will practice when Caring-with-Love for Blessed Warriors and one another:

patience,
kindness,
selflessness,
humility,
encouragement,
gentleness and civility,
generosity,
tolerance,
forgiveness,
honesty (i.e., sharing the realities of diagnosis, living requirements, etc., in healthy measure).

We must and will be:

courageous,
strong,
faithful and Faith-full,
Hope-filled,
JOY-seeking,
tireless…..

Whoever/Whatever we believe God to be, God believes we can be – that we are – able to journey through Alzheimer’s, or God wouldn’t have given us this journey to take and one another with whom to take it.  We respond to this calling through Grace – and whoever and whatever, wherever, whenever we need God to be – one day at a time.  So we endeavor, together.

And YOU can, too.
