Following are the names of those who made Tribute Gifts to Betty’s Love – and some of the messages they sent….
“My wife and I had the pleasure of getting to know Dr. Doug and his lovely wife Dr. Vicky this past August as we were travel mates on the excursion of a lifetime to Austria, Germany, Switzerland. The places we saw were amazing but the highlight of the trip was the group of people who shared our journey. Doug had a serious and devout side especially when he did the readings during our daily mass. His strong delivery always turned each passage into a special message. Doug also had a fun side, he was engaging and inquisitive at all times and was truly a joy to travel with on our tour. We were shocked and saddened to learn of his sudden passing and our heartfelt condolences go out to his wife Vicky and his children and all of his family.”
- Joseph and Caroline Watson of Fontana, Wisconsin
“I honor my friend and colleague, Dr. Douglas Loberg. My deepest sympathy.”
- Dale Geiss, M.D., of Peoria, Illinois
“Please accept a gift in memory of my best friend, Doug Loberg….”
- Bryan Dietz of Lake Forest, California
“In memory of our beloved neighbor … who passed suddenly at too young of an age and will be sorely missed by his family, friends, and community. We hope this can be of some small help in the fight against Alzheimer’s.”
- Dr. Bruce and Linda McLelland of Peoria
“Please accept this gift as a memorial to Dr. Douglas Loberg. A dear friend of mine who will be greatly missed.”
- Mark S. Sperry of North Oaks, Minnesota
“Dr. Loberg was a fellow physician of my husband and a family friend for many years. He was devoted to his family, took excellent care of his patients, and touched the lives of so many more people along the way. We will always remember him.”
- Dr. Steve and Barb Thompson of Peoria
“In memory of the amazing Doug Loberg!”
- Therese M. Moon of Peoria
“… in memory of Dr. Doug Loberg, who was a good friend of ours. He will be missed by so many.”
- Bill and Pat Wombacher of Peoria
“…My son Cliff and Chris Loberg were Tiger Cub Scouts together and went through the ranks and both of them ultimately earned the rank of Eagle Scout….Doug was the Scout Master … (I was the adult “chef” on the campouts for the dads). As a result of scouting, there are approximately 6 dads that were introduced and remain very close friends today. We often recount many of the scouting experiences we had with Doug throughout the years. There are so many “Doug” stories that we share and will continue to share because they remind us of who he was and why we all loved him so much. He is missed dearly and will always be in our hearts.”
-Art Laine

Celebrant Fr. Paul O’Connor; S.J., Pianist and Singer Therese Lenz; Liturgy Coordinators Jaclyn Mullooly & Bernadette Moore;
Eucharistic Minister Bill Facinelli; Lectors Kerri Arnold, Becky Terlep, and Andy Wiers; Hosts Kerri Arnold, Lauren Brzuszewicz, Maggie Fossier, Lindsey Behr, Conor Gee, and Chris Mullooly; Photographer Meghan Burns; Brain-Healthy Treats Bringers; Care-full Furniture Movers; Thoughtful Slippers Donners; Joyful Storytellers; Loving-Hug Envelopers; Enthusiastic Bathroom Tourists; and anyone we for-the-moment forget. (Again: We’re Betty’s Love Alzheimer’s Charities!)
ALL of you graceful, kind, giving people – and all our Saints and Angels, who most assuredly joined us from Heaven! – made our traditional Irish Month’s Mind Mass a truly Joy-full and Blessed event. Go raibh míle maith agat! [Irish Gaelic for: A thousand times: Thank You!!]
Please check back for photographs – and if you made some, please send them soon to info@bettyslove.org. (That includes you, Building Inspector Andy! lol) And please come back to The Chapel – soon and often – for brain-boosting Activities-with-Love [including Irish Language, Music, and Dancing Lessons this March!], to share your Gifts with Betty’s Love, whenever you need a Betty’s Break … or to simply BE in our sacred space.
For more information about what we do in Betty’s Love, please peruse our site. And if you know a family on a journey through Alzheimer’s disease, dementia, or any cognitive impairment, please let us know – and please let them know Betty’s Three Things:
1. Everything they are doing-with-Love is sufficient. “God’s Grace is sufficient for thee” (2 Corinthians 12:9) – i.e., it is exactly what we need, in exact measure, at the exact time we truly need it. So is everything you do every day for everyone about and for whom you care – at home, at work, with strangers. So, please be gentle with – and Love As an Action Verb - yourselves and one another.
2. They – and you – are not alone.
3. They – and you – are Loved.
Blessings, indeed! With gratitude galore from me, Maureen Gavan, and, in the very present tense:
Douglas J. Loberg, M.D., Phyllis L. Hineman, Patricia M. Muscato, Denny McKillip, Buddy Behr, Agnes A. Winters, Miguel Martin-Sanchez, Beatrice A. Cunningham, Merrily Barnes Kane, Edna Mae and James Arnold, Sir Edward Jones, Margaret O’Brien, Ed Hughes, Mary Jordan, Mary & Patrick Godfrey, Louise & John Lawrence, Dorothy & Charles Johnson, Mildred Hicks Kanarek, Sadie & Sam Penny, and Betty & Joe, Susan & Joseph, Fr. Russell, Sr. Irene, Marge, Dick, and Pat Gavin, et al – Amen!
We in Betty’s Love work in honor of all our own beloved family members whose Love As an Action Verb™ teaches, blesses, and inspires us, still. And we always remember your Honorees who inspire you, still – in the very present tense.
